Dalton High School Catamounts are thrilled to celebrate their annual Homecoming tomorrow, September 28th! Join them as they take part in the parade, football game, and Homecoming Dance, bringing together students, alumni, and the entire community for a day of fun and tradition.
Parade Information:
The Dalton High School Homecoming Parade will kick off at 9:00 AM. Floats will depart from Dalton High School, travel down Waugh Street, turn onto Thornton Avenue, and then again on Crawford Street. The parade will conclude on Jones Street. Please refer to the map below for additional route details.
Homecoming Game:
The Dalton High football team will face off against Hiram High School at 12:00 PM at Harmon Field. Come out and support the Catamounts as they take on the Hornets!
Homecoming Dance:
The Dalton High School Homecoming Dance will take place from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM tomorrow evening. Tickets are available for $20 and can be purchased either at the door with exact change or online through GoFan. Purchase your tickets now using the following link: https://gofan.co/event/1716609
Students who wish to bring a guest from another school must complete one of the following steps:
1. Submit the Homecoming Guest Form via email to Mr. Wickes at james.wickes@dalton.k12.ga.us. The form can be found here: https://5il.co/2xo4t
2. Have a principal or assistant principal from the guest’s school email Mr. Wickes confirming that the guest is in good standing with no significant disciplinary issues in the past year.
Please note that all guests who are not Dalton Public Schools students must be under the age of 21 and present a valid ID upon arrival.

Yesterday, DPS high school sophomores had the opportunity to participate in the interactive ‘game of life’ at the Teen Maze event organized by United Way of Northwest Georgia!
Taking place at the Dalton Fair Grounds, Teen Maze aims to educate students about the real-life consequences of their choices through a hands-on and engaging experience. By examining how their decisions can affect their future and understanding the importance of personal responsibility, this event empowers students to make positive choices in life.
We are proud of our students for participating and gaining valuable insights that will help shape their futures!

Our elementary students were thrilled to have the Dalton High School Players, the drama club, visit them as characters during pick-ups recently! The Players stopped by to promote their exciting Homecoming raffle, where one lucky student from each elementary school will get to ride on the drama club's float in the Homecoming parade!

Weather Monitoring Update from Dalton Public Schools:
Due to safety concerns related to Tropical Storm/Hurricane Helene, Dalton Public Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday, September 26th and 27th. This includes the cancellation of all extracurricular activities scheduled for those days. The decision was made in collaboration with local safety agencies to ensure the well-being of our students, staff, and community.
Dalton High Homecoming Activities Adjusted:
•Parade: The Dalton High homecoming parade will be rescheduled to take place on Saturday, September 28th at 9:00 AM.
•Football Game: The homecoming football game will now be held on Saturday at 12:00 PM, with the homecoming court presented at halftime.
•Homecoming Dance: The homecoming dance will proceed as planned on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
Additional information, including details about the parade route and a parade route map, will be shared soon.

Deborah Azua Named Roan School Classified Staff Member of the Year
Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that Deborah Azua has been named the Classified Staff Member of the Year at Roan School. Azua has been an integral part of the Roan School community since 2017, where she initially served as a paraprofessional before taking on the role of school secretary.
In her role as secretary, Azua is dedicated to ensuring outstanding communication between parents and staff. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining consistent communication, noting, "At the end of the day, it is all for the students."

Dalton Junior High School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a special performance by local band “Nueva Delta.” Bringing in local talent like Nueva Delta made the celebration feel even more personal, helping students connect with the rich traditions of their community while enjoying the energy and excitement of live music.

Park Creek School students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a special lesson on the significance of piñatas. Fourth and fifth grade Challenge students researched the cultural importance of piñatas as part of their studies and concluded their project by building traditional piñatas.

Dalton High School Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Dalton High School is proud to announce that two of its seniors, CenCen Wan and Hope Hambrock, have been named Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recently revealed the names of more than 16,000 semifinalists in the prestigious competition, now in its 70th year. Wan and Hambrock now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million, which will be awarded in the spring of 2025.
