The Dalton Academy has been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education and College Board as a 2026 AP Honor School, earning distinction in both the AP Access and Support School and AP Challenge School categories.

These recognitions highlight The Dalton Academy’s commitment to expanding access to rigorous academic opportunities while supporting students in achieving success in Advanced Placement coursework.

The AP Access and Support School designation is awarded to schools where at least 30% of AP exams are taken by African American and/or Hispanic students and where at least 30% of all AP exams earn scores of 3 or higher. Schools must also administer a minimum of 25 AP exams to qualify.

The AP Challenge School designation recognizes schools with enrollments of 900 students or fewer that successfully offer AP opportunities across English, Math, Science, and Social Studies while maintaining strong student participation and achievement.

“This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, counselors, and staff,” said Jessica Ashlock, principal. “We are proud to continue building a culture where students are encouraged to challenge themselves academically and pursue opportunities that prepare them for success beyond high school.”

Over the past several years, The Dalton Academy has continued to grow its Advanced Placement offerings and student participation, creating greater access to college-level coursework for students across multiple academic areas.

The Dalton Academy’s AP program includes courses in English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, and the AP Capstone program — the only AP Capstone program in the area. Through courses such as AP Seminar and AP Research, students develop advanced skills in research

The Dalton Academy remains committed to ensuring all students have access to meaningful academic opportunities and support systems that help them thrive.
