Making Literacy Count in Math

Our Math PLC continues to make time for teachers to learn from one another!

This week, Mrs. Jennifer Woodson led our team in exploring ways to incorporate more reading and writing into the math classroom. Mrs. Woodson shared simple, engaging strategies for using writing as a warm-up, including ideas like “Math Meme Monday” and “Theorem Thursday,” where students respond to short prompts as they enter the classroom.

These strategies help us continue our district-wide focus on literacy by giving students more opportunities to read, write, explain, and communicate their mathematical thinking. Math is more than finding the answer, it’s being able to communicate the thinking that gets you there! ✏️➗📚
